In its press release, the city of Nice opposes in particular the holding of two evenings on “the expulsion of foreigners” in the presence of Cédric Herrou.
An initiative denounced. In a press release, the city of Nice announces that it strongly opposes the holding of the “Spring of migrations” festival. A festival organized by 26 associations to be held from April 1 to 30.
For a month, several projects will be proposed in the districts of Nice: debates, workshops, screenings or street arts. But the city reminds that each event organized on the public highway must be authorized in advance.
“No authorization has been requested from the City of Nice, which disapproves of the organizers’ approach. (…) It is a fault that greatly compromises the organization of these events”, recalls the town hall in its press release.
Two evenings on the expulsion of foreigners threatened
Above all, the city of Nice deplores that “part of the programming does not seem absolutely likely to appease, quite the contrary”, in the midst of social tension in the country with the demonstrations against the pension reform.
The city is directly targeting two evenings to be held on “the expulsion of foreigners” on April 13 and 14 at the Nomad Bar and the Diables Bleus in the presence of Cédric Herrou, “known for having helped illegal immigrants to go to France illegally” , continues the press release.
“The city of Nice recalls that it will not accept that an event highlighting this type of behavior be organized in premises belonging to it or in the public square”, indicates the city of Nice.
On its website, Cimade, one of the associations organizing the event, recalls that “deportation occupies a growing place in the migratory journey of foreigners who are subject to increasingly coercive police control”.
The association is keen to “defend the rights of people faced with these administrative measures which will be even more restrictive if the government implements its projects”, referring to the immigration law carried by Gérald Darmanin.
