The price of electricity has risen in all the Baltic States

Price increases were also observed in Finland and two sales areas in Sweden, where the average weekly electricity price was around 45 euros per MWh. The rise in prices was due to technical problems at nuclear power plants and capacity constraints between Swedish trading areas. At the same time, electricity prices in Norway fell as the amount of water in the reservoirs increased as a result of melting snow.

Compared to the week before, consumption in the Nord Pool region increased to 6,372 gigawatt hours (GWh), while production increased to 6,243 GWh.

Last week, the total electricity consumption in the Baltic States decreased by 6% to 442 GWh. Among them, consumption in Latvia decreased by 9% to 115 GWh, in Lithuania consumption decreased by 2% to 211 GWh, but in Estonia consumption decreased by 10% to 116 GWh.

Last week, in the Baltics, compared to the previous week, total electricity generation increased by 19% to 298 GWh. Estonia has seen the largest increase in electricity generation – by 45% to 88 GWh. In Lithuania, production volumes increased by 13% to 99 GWh, while the volume of electricity generated in Latvia increased by 9% to 111 GWh.
