Mu800 is a film based on the life of Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan. Madhur Mittal plays Muralidharan in the film. Muralidharan is open about the film, which is set to hit the theaters on October 6. He also talks about the withdrawal of Vijay Sethupathi, who was supposed to be the hero earlier.

800 is directed by MS Sripathi. After the announcement of the film, Vijay Sethupathi walked out of the project. Muttiah Muralidharan’s words clarify that the reason for this was some pressure. The former cricketer also said that it was director Sripathi who suggested Vijay Sethupathi to be the hero.

“It was the time when I was playing IPL matches. Vijay Sethupathi, who came for a shoot, was also staying in the same hotel where I was staying. Vijay Sethupathi, who is also a fan of mine, agreed to meet. Five days after this, an opportunity arose to listen to the script for two hours after 8 pm. After reading the script, Vijay was very confident that he would do it. He said happily. He said that he was waiting to be a part of such a film. Later, the producers were also ready.” Muralidharan said.

But then Vijay Sethupathi had to face a lot of pressure, says Muthiah. Some even threatened Vijay Sethupathi’s family. This is a sports movie. There are no political references in the film. But this is a true story of a man, added Muttiah Muralidharan. Muralidharan had earlier been accused of supporting his government in the civil war with the LTTE.
