The PPRM urges the Government to reinforce measures to guarantee safe and quality tourism

MURCIA, 26 (EUROPA PRESS)

The PP urges the Government of Spain in the Congress of Deputies to adopt measures to guarantee safe and quality tourism during the stay of tourists visiting the Region of Murcia.

The national deputy of the Popular Party, Isabel Borrego, stressed that “tourism is a key and fundamental element for the economic recovery of the Region of Murcia.” “It is necessary, so that tourists are not victims of crimes during their stay, to have the precise means to guarantee safe tourism”, she stated.

In line, the ‘popular’ has remarked that, during the months of greatest tourist influx, “travel to destinations with the greatest offer to commit crimes is common, generating insecurity for businessmen, visitors and neighbors, causing a bad image of these destinations.

For this reason, citizen security “constitutes an essential element for the tourist success of destinations, especially in those places and spaces with the highest concentration of people”, he remarked.

In this line, and to avoid crime in the summer season, “we ask the Government of Spain to reinforce the specific Safe Tourism plans, and that these plans be extended throughout the year in the areas with the highest tourist influx”, as well as ” disseminate it at fairs and tourism promotions and strengthen the offices of the Foreign Tourist Service”.

Likewise, the deputy has stated that it is necessary “to improve the subjective security of tourists through campaigns carried out jointly by the State Security Forces and Bodies, and actively support the actions carried out in the tourism sector by the Government and the Autonomous Administrations” .

In this sense, Borrego has declared that “the channels of communication must be maintained, provide an extraordinary reinforcement of troops, increase citizen security in the areas with the greatest influx and reinforce the number of troops of the State Security Forces and Bodies in border posts at airports and ports”.

It is necessary to make available to tourists “technological applications that provide information and through which they can transfer the existence of any security problem”, as well as “strengthen foreign tourist service offices with the collaboration of the Forces and Bodies of security”.

Likewise, the deputy has concluded that “it is also necessary to carry out legal reforms to avoid minor crimes such as theft and fraud with which tourists are affected.”
