The councilor of the Popular Group, Juan Giner, has warned of a disproportionate increase in personnel spending in the business public sector of the Valencia City Council. Since the municipal government arrived in 2015, according to the councilman, the number of people in more than 26.8 million euros, all of them increase spending being in first position the EMT with an increase of 17 million euros, followed by the company of Parks and Gardens with a 3.1 million increase.
Giner has pointed out that this increase in personnel spending “does not make sense. We must focus our efforts on having more operational police and firefighters as well as in Social services and those services such as licenses that are directly related to economic development “
The creation of new organizations, more hiring and a higher number of senior positions in companies, shoots the departure of personnel, while “it continues to decrease the staff of the Local Police and Fire Department”. The municipal company that manages parks and gardens It has gone from a personal budget of 8,162,392 euros, to more than 11,327,733, with an increase of 3,165,340 euros, while the Palau de la Música, despite it is closed and it will continue like this for at least two more years, going from 8,067,521 euros to 9,824,675 euros, an increase in personnel for this year 2020 of 1,757,154 euros.
Another increase in personnel, explains Councilor Giner, would be found in the Municipal Sports Foundation which goes from 8,418,477 euros to 9,764,005 euros, an increase of 1,345,527 euros, while the Board of Trustees of the Popular University It has gone from a staff expense of 3,830,759 euros to the 5,057,184 euros budgeted for 2020, which means an increase of 1,226,424 euros.
As explained by the Popular Group, the cost of staff of the City of Valencia has risen in just five years, since the new government led by Joan Ribó, at just over 101 million euros. The item destined to pay the payrolls of public employees in the budgets, in this way, has gone from the 329.7 million that the consistory used five years ago to the 431.3 that have been entered in the municipal accounts for 2020.
