The 2022 cruise season in the port of Riga promises a record number of cruise ship visits – the arrival of more than 100 cruise ships, which will exceed the last full cruise season in 2019 by a quarter.

Of these, 13 ships are visiting Riga for the first time this season, and about 20 cruise ships have stayed or will stay in Riga for more than one day.

In July of this year, a monthly record was also registered in the history of the port of Riga in terms of received ships – 30 cruise ships were welcomed and served in the port during one month. A total of 63 cruise ship visits were registered in seven months, bringing 42,880 passengers to Riga, most of them from Germany (18,400), USA (9,700), Great Britain (2,700), Sweden (1,500) and Canada (1,000).

The maximum passenger capacity of the cruise ship “Costa Fascinosa” is 3,780 people, however, considering that the cruise segment around the world is still working within the framework of strict Covid19 restrictions protocols, the ships do not take on board the maximum possible number of passengers this season.

“Costa Fascinosa” has 14 decks, 524 cabins with balconies, nine swimming pools and jacuzzis, six restaurants and snack bars, as well as 12 bars. The ship will arrive in Riga from Tallinn, stay here for two days (August 7-8) and then go to Visby. It will visit Riga five times during the season.

It has already been reported that 33 cruise ships were handled in the port of Riga in the first half of the year, 22 of them in June. Seven cruise ships entered the port for the first time. 19,700 cruise tourists from 91 countries visited Riga in the first months of the cruise season.
