While the state of California has no problem with the machine, the sale of the manual had to be banned due to excessive noise.

The Porsche 911 GT3 is often rated as one of the most breathtaking sports cars today, which also offers customers an interesting choice. Thanks to the recently introduced more civilian version of the wingless Touring, the car can blend in better with the crowd, but thanks to the choice between a seven-speed PDK automatic and a six-speed manual, it still offers a unique driving experience. But not for everyone.
During the presentation of the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring model for the American market, it became clear that those interested in the sunny state of California will not be able to order a car with a manual transmission. The classic concept with three pedals would be illegal on California roads due to above-limit noise, which prevented it from being approved by the CCR (California Code of Regulations).

It is funny that the whole situation has only surfaced now, although the premiere of the 911 GT3 took place in mid-February this year. So there is no doubt that some eager customers from California have already configured their car and ordered it with a manual, which is a relatively popular choice for this model.
However, the carmaker adds that it was only recently informed about the whole situation and did not have the opportunity to make appropriate changes. Customers who have already ordered a car with a manual should be contacted by dealers and should be able to order a car traditionally with a vending machine. Or they can wait and hope. The problem should not be permanent.

According to Porsche, the cars were homologated according to a test procedure last modified in 1998. However, Porsche expects CCR to soon switch to a more modern testing procedure, with which the car should be homologated without any problems and could get on the road legally without any problems. .
Porsche is already negotiating with the California State Highway Patrol to resolve the whole situation, but no one is able to estimate the time that the situation could take. The most impatient customers who have already specified and ordered their car, but will probably not be too excited about the next wait.
