Series »Equivocal, disturbing, fascinating. Pius XIII, serious as a pope certainly must be, had decided to put the Church back in the middle of the village. He was the first young and sexy American bishop of Rome, but displayed an explosive conservatism. Between the smell of holiness and solid scent of sulfur, this representative of God on earth could not leave indifferent. In the last minutes of the first season of The Young Pope, we saw this pope, interpreted beautifully by Jude Law, struck down by an evil of which we knew nothing. A disturbing finish.
The second season of this sumptuous fiction by Paolo Sorrentino, dubbed The New Pope, is currently broadcast on Canal +. It is by far not the only television creation currently evoking the papacy or the faith (see below). But this series is certainly the most aesthetic.
