JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Head of Public Information Division, Public Relations Division Police Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan claimed that the young man with the initials AM was suspected of committing hate speech against the Mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka was not captured by Police.

Ramadhan confirmed that AM came to the police station himself to apologize.

“So that’s done by virtual police there just reminds the account. Then the person concerned came to the police station to apologize and write an apology statement, “said Ramadhan in a press conference at Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/3/2021).

He said that AM was cooperative by coming directly to the local police. Ramadan also stated that the case was over.

“So it is not true that the person concerned was secured,” said Ramadan.

Previously, the Head of Solo Police, Kombes Ade Safari Simanjuntak, stated that AM was arrested for not responding to the virtual police warning sent via direct message (DM) regarding AM’s upload on Instagram.

AM is considered to have made hate speech towards Gibran, who is also a son President Joko Widodo, because he wrote, “know what he is about football, he only was given the position.”

Virtual police sends a warning to AM to delete the post. However, AM did not delete it after the second warning.

However, Ade said, AM has apologized and promised not to repeat his actions.

“The person concerned has apologized and will not repeat his actions,” said Ade, Monday (15/3/2021).
