The plant in Lovech for electric cars – the first in Europe with entirely eco-production

This is what the plant near Lovech will look like after it is completed.

The project is going according to plan, construction will begin in March next year

The Bulgarian plant for electric cars Next.e.Go Bulgaria, which will be built near Lovech, will be the first completely carbon neutral in Europe and will produce the energy it consumes through solar panels on its roof, the chairman of “24 Chasa” told “24 Chasa”. “Automotive Cluster Bulgaria” Lyubomir Stanislavov, who is one of the two executive directors of the company.

According to him, the factory will be ultra-modern, built on the latest principles of Industry 4.0 – the whole will be air-conditioned, there will be a lot of greenery, and working conditions will be world class.

The construction of the plant itself has not started yet, but the procedures are going according to plan, Stanislavov assured. The first sod is scheduled for March next year, when the new construction season begins. The factory will be located on site in the Balkan plant in Lovech, but in reality a whole industrial zone will be built around it. Currently, the urban planning is being finalized, waiting for the municipality to accept it. After that, a building permit will be issued, which will probably happen quickly, as the project is completely ready.

The factory will be larger than originally planned – in its wide part the size is 350 meters, and in the short – 250 meters. There is a logistics area, special fuel tanks, car wash, test track, parking for new cars (see illustration above.)

Absolutely all positions are already structured, with the first appointments expected in the first quarter of next year. there will be a total of about 1,000 workers, and the best employees will be taken from Balkan.

The site of the plant is owned by the brothers Kiril and Georgi Domuschievi, who hold 49.998% of Next.e.Go Bulgaria. The remaining 50.002% of the company are the German Next.e.Go Mobile. About 1000 decares remain vacant on the terrain, which can accommodate suppliers or other companies from the automotive industry

The ambition of the manufacturers is that as many parts of the car as possible will be produced in Bulgaria, including the most important aluminum components. This is the innovative technology that will be used for Bulgarian electric cars, which will provide them with 2-3 times longer life. The batteries are from the supplier of smartphones Apple.

In August, the plant near Lovech also received a Class A investment certificate from then-Economy Minister Kiril Petkov. The announced amount of the project was BGN 280 million, but it is actually much bigger.

Meanwhile, the state is negotiating three more investments in the field of electric cars – for the assembly of whole cars, batteries and parts, with Korean and Chinese companies.
