The Phenomenon of the Snow Moon Will Decorate the Sky Tonight

Monday, 6 February 2023 – 14:06 WIB

LIVE Techno – The phenomenon of the Snow Moon will decorate the sky. The name comes from a North American tradition. The Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) explains that the Maine Farmer’s Almanac began publishing the names ‘India’ for Full Moons in the 1930s by which these names are now widely known and used.

This almanac is taken from tribes in the northeastern United States who call it the Snow Moon or storm month because it coincides with heavy snow.

According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, February remains the snowiest month of the year in the United States, before January to be precise, launching from the Express website, Monday, February 6, 2023.

“Bad weather and heavy snowstorms made hunting difficult, so this Moon is also called the hungry moon. Some sources list the wolf moon as the old European name for this full moon,” explained NASA.

Another European name is the month of candles, which is tied to Candlemas on February 2. Candlemas also known as the Feast of the Offering of Jesus Christ is a Christian holiday commemorating the offering of Jesus in the Temple, as described in Luke 2:22–40.
