The Perseids at their best tonight!

It is an event that astronomy enthusiasts look forward to every summer. The Perseids will be at their best next night.

People can take advantage of the early hours of the night until around 1am, to see a few dozen meteors per hour.

The observation promises to be more difficult this year because of the Moon which will be in the last quarter this evening.

The meteor shower returns every August when Earth passes close to the orbit of comet 109P Swift-Tuttle.

It is the billions of dust particles in its wake that offer this spectacle when entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
