The passage of the storm ‘Vicky’ leaves at least five dead as it passes through the Philippines

MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least five people have already died from the passage of tropical storm ‘Vicky’ through the Philippines, according to local media.

Two people died and a minor was injured due to a landslide caused by heavy rains in Leyte province, as confirmed by the Philippines News Agency.

For its part, the CNN Philippines television network reported citing the local government about three other people who drowned in the province of Surigao del Sur.

In addition, according to the media, the floods caused by ‘Vicky’ have caused damage to 50 homes.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has announced that the Philippine National Police has deployed nearly 1,600 search and rescue personnel to help mitigate the consequences of the natural disaster.

According to the country’s Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), ‘Vicky’ is now about to make landfall on the island of Palawan, in the extreme west of the country.

Last October typhoon ‘Molave’ left 23 fatalities after passing through the Philippines, while typhoons ‘Vamco’ and ‘Rolly’, which hit the country last month, left at least 80 dead.
