Churchill was an army officer before becoming a politician and he began painting at the age of 40. The light of Marrakech was a favourite subject for him and he made six visits over the course of 23 years. /voxsartoria/

The painting was sold by Roosevelt’s son after the president’s death in 1945, and had several owners before Jolie and partner Brad Pitt bought it in 2011. INF
