The opposition has blocked the center of Chisinau, the police are ready to act

In the capital of Moldova, several tens of thousands of supporters of the opposition parliamentary party ‘Shor’ and the Communist Party today, November 18, hold a protest in front of the General Prosecutor’s Office. Protesters are demanding the resignation of the head of the department after the correspondence of Justice Minister Sergei Litvinenko appeared in the public space, from which it follows that the results of the competition for nominations were rigged in the interests of the authorities.

The participants in the procession, which passed along the central avenue of Chisinau, sing: “Resign!”, “Down with May and Sandu!” and “Snap elections!”. The police cordoned off the city center, at first they did not interfere with the speech. Those who gathered took advantage of this and blocked the carriageway of Stephen the Great Boulevard. The supporters and the communists of Shor were urged to clear the road, warning of possible consequences. The protesters did not obey, placing a cordon in front of the police cars.

“We once again appeal to the organizers of the protest action with a request to comply with law enforcement requirements to unblock a traffic direction on Blvd. Stefan cel Mare, – requested from the General Inspectorate.

Since the start of the action, 16 people have already been detained, including three unattended minors. All were taken to the inspectorate for identification and registration of protocols. It turned out that one of the inmates was on the wanted list.

In Moldova, for the third month, mass protests have been taking place, in which citizens dissatisfied with the social situation are demanding the resignation of the cabinet of ministers, early presidential and parliamentary elections. On the eve of the party leader “Shor” Ilan Shor he announced that he was changing the strategy of the fight and would demand the release of the captured institutions by legal means. According to him, the first in line are the Attorney General’s Office and the Constitutional Court, which allow President Sandu’s regime to remain in power.

Earlier, at the request of Maia Sandu, who believes that “pro-Russian parties united with criminal groups” are behind the protesters, the police and prosecutors stepped up measures to prosecute the activists.

As reported EADailythe government of Moldova for the period of the state of emergency in the country has introduced restrictions on demonstrations and protests, allowing them only on weekends and no more than four hours, without blocking the roadway and state institutions.
