Olympic silver medalist in pair skating Marina Cherkasova explained the injury of figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.

In her opinion, the injury to the athlete is associated with her return to coach Eteri Tutberidze. The skater believes that the Russian woman has lost the habit of high loads and has not calculated the strength.

Cherkasova also added that the injuries of many skaters are associated with a pause in the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the specialist admitted that she was glad to return Medvedeva to Russia.

On October 8, it was reported that the athlete was hospitalized for examination due to a back injury. The damage did not allow Medvedeva to speak at the first stages of the Russian Cup. Three weeks before the injury, the Russian woman returned to the Tutberidze group. Prior to that, she trained under the guidance of Canadian Brian Orser.

On account of Medvedeva a silver medal at the Olympics in Pyeongchang, as well as two victories at the world and European championships. In addition, the Russian woman twice won the Grand Prix finals.
