The oldest house in the history of mankind was found in South Africa – photo

In the Kalahari Desert in the Wonderwerk Cave, archaeologists have discovered the oldest “house” in human history, which is 2 million years old.

About it writes Haaretz.

Two million years ago, our ancestors still had small brains, but they were definitely bipedal. We don’t know when our ancestors left trees and started walking on Earth in an upright position, but it seems to have started about 4 million years ago.

Wonderwerk Cave is located near the town of Danielskuil in the chalk cliffs of the Kuruman Hills and more than 700 kilometers from the nearest beach.

Archaeologist Liora Kolska Horwitz noted that it is actually not entirely clear what ancient people lived in this cave. For almost a century of excavations, not a single particle of human bone, not a single tooth has been found there. However, for two million years, hominins have clearly used the cave, used tools there, and dined there.

Archaeologists explain that this is the earliest known use of tools under a “roof” rather than outdoors. In addition, evidence of the use of fire a million years ago was found in the Wonderwerk Cave.

As reported by “Apostrophe”, earlier paleoanthropologists from the University of Tubingen. Eberhard Karl in Germany found that the development of the thumb in ancient people began even before they used tools… Previously, this was considered impossible.
