The ship departed from the mooring place in the South Bay and went beyond the boom gates of the Sevastopol Bay. The Black Sea Fleet had three such ships, one of them, the Saratov large landing ship, was destroyed by the Ukrainian military in the port of Berdyansk. The other two are Orsk (tail number 148) and Nikolay Filchenkov (152).
Since the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine, the side numbers of all ships have been painted over to complicate the identification of units of the same type.
Project 1171 Tapir large landing ships are obsolete, built in 1968 and 1975. After the destruction of the large landing ship “Saratov”, the large landing ships “Orsk” and “Nikolai Filchenkov”, at least since the end of April, have never gone to sea.
As UNIAN reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained why Russian ships are kept remote in the Black Sea.
