That was no surprise: After two Corona years without the “stall magic” in the usual design, the Ober-Roden Advent market presented itself in its “rebirth” last weekend in a small, tasteful design around the parish church of San Nazario – and with a large attendance. The impressive response confirmed Mayor Jörg Rotter’s welcome words, who had already guessed what was going to happen on Saturday evening in advance: many people strolling from one stand to another in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere.
After the forced break with harsh contact restrictions, Rotter stressed that there was a real need to revive old traditions and reactivate social life. His assessment: “I think we all urgently need these meetings now. Enjoy your time outdoors”. And that’s what the Ober-Röder, the curious and buyers from other districts of Rödermark and neighboring municipalities have done extensively.
There was no shortage of craftsmanship and culinary temptations. The parish has attracted people to the forum and one-world shop with potential Christmas gifts. The obligatory children’s carousel made its rounds, one could also spend cozy Sunday hours at the Dinjerhof, the mulled wine from the new glass goblets with Rödermark decor tasted great… And the cultural program was impressive. The instrumentalists of the music clubs 03 and 08, the trombone choir of the Evangelical church community, the community gymnastics band… All performed.
The Municipal Department 5 (Culture, Homeland and Europe) has set the organizational course for a very special highlight. The Darmstadt MehrKlang-Ensemble presented choral works from four centuries and thus created a festive and sometimes almost solemn atmosphere in the “Rodgaudom”. “The audience was impressed. We will invite the ensemble to the Advent market again next year. The Sunday afternoon offer to enjoy quiet moments in church is also much appreciated. We would also like to see it repeated”, explained Thomas Mörsdorf, head of department 5, on behalf of all those who contributed to the success of the two transfer market days.
The downtown weekend trio wrapped up harmoniously with another classic date, also back in the familiar format. Book flea market and children’s paper theater with storyteller Ramona Rippert: With this invitation, Lesezeichen, the city’s friends library, has attracted visitors to the library on Trinkbrunnenstrasse.
