At least 270 new COVID-19 contaminations in Quebec and Ontario increased the toll on the number of cases on Saturday, but the two provinces are testing more than ever.

In total, 116,599 people have been officially declared positive for the new coronavirus since the start of the health crisis, including 39,333 in Ontario and 59,458 in Quebec, the main focus in the country.
Quebec authorities on Saturday recorded 146 additional cases and four new deaths, bringing the total to 5,678 deaths.
In addition, Quebec has reached a new test record with 18,437 screenings in 24 hours. In total, the Belle Province was able to test 1,238,946 individuals, according to the most recent figures dating from July 30.
The Quebec Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, also noted a “new record of screening tests” while insisting that it was also necessary “to reduce the spread of cases”.
In neighboring Ontario, there have been 124 more cases as well as two deaths for a total of 2,777 deaths recorded since the start of the pandemic.
As for the Ontario laboratories, they were able to test 33,282 people in 24 hours, for a total of 2,205,254.
