Last day, 44 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in Latvia, thus a total of 510 patients with the new coronavirus are currently being treated in hospitals, which is 26 more than a day earlier, according to data compiled by the National Health Service (NSS).
This is the highest number of Covid-19 patients in hospital at any one time. Previously, the largest number of Covid-19 patients in hospital at the same time was reported on Friday, November 27, when a total of 496 Covid-19 patients were treated in hospitals. The largest number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in one day was reported on November 26, when 96 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in the previous 24 hours.
According to the latest NSAIDs, of all Covid-19 patients currently in hospital, 478 have a moderate course of disease and 32 have a severe course of the disease.
Ten Covid-19 patients were discharged from the hospital during the last day, but so far a total of 1289.
It has already been reported that the Minister of Health Ilze Hänķele (AP) informed Latvian Television this week that 633 beds are available in hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Services can be re-profiled to accommodate Covid-19 patients. This is done at the expense of planned care or day inpatient services, the Minister reminded. Extra beds have been created both in hospitals in Riga and in the regions.
The Minister revealed that there are also private medical institutions that are ready to help and care for Covid-19 patients.
