The coronavirus vaccines will work from eight months to two years, the National Security and Defense Council said.
The coronavirus vaccines, specifically Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna, are effective against mutated types of infection and last longer than other vaccines. On Saturday, January 9, the head of the Commission on Biosafety and Biological Protection under the National Security and Defense Council, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Sergey Komissarenko told about this on the air of the TV channel Ukraine 24.
“Evidence has been released of how a vaccine like Pfizer or Moderna protects against a new strain that is spreading from the UK and South Africa. A study with the serum of people who have been immunized with the artificially mutated virus has shown that the vaccine protects these people from new virus, “- said the representative of the NSDC.
Also, he said, COVID vaccines will last much longer than, for example, the flu vaccine – from eight months to two years.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health Maxim Stepanov said that first deliveries of coronavirus vaccine to Ukraine expected in February. We are talking about a drug from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech.
