The Norwegian Confederation and Kläbo have put down the battle ax

Johannes has said what he thinks about entering into a commercial agreement with a content provider in the media, ie the agreement between Viaplay and the Norwegian Ski Association. This has been important for Johannes and I have respect for that, says Bjervig.

Kläbo starts this weekend’s World Cup competitions in Lillehammer with the same competition clothes as other national team skiers, including the Viaplay logo. Both Kläbo and the Norwegian Ski Association are now putting the matter behind them.

– For me, it has been important to convey my concerns in relation to credibility and independence by a content player and rights holder such as Viaplay also entering into a commercial sponsorship agreement. I mean what I’ve meant all along in this case. At the same time, I have now agreed to expose the Viaplay logo on the competition suit, says Kläbo in the press release from the Norwegian federation.

– And even though I will not continue this debate now, it is an important debate – and we have seen a variety of opinions and views on the issue. In any case, I have managed to get the case on the agenda – and shown where I stand in this case, Kläbo continues.

Bjervig and Klæbo agree that the case was not about Viaplay’s editorial coverage.

– I think that Viaplay has got a very strong start as the right holder of the World Cup in cross-country skiing. Many have praised what they have delivered, says Bjervig.

– Grandpa and others think that the broadcasts from Ruka were good. Viaplay gets a very good response to its premiere with cross-country skiing. My criticism has not been directed at Viaplay’s editorial product. It is important to clearly distinguish between editorial coverage and commercial sponsorship, says Kläbo.

Kläbo and his team will not answer more questions in this case.

– We will not refuse anyone to take the debate further, but we do not want to contribute more to it. Ask for respect for it. Now it is the World Cup in Lillehammer that applies to me, Kläbo concludes.
