The special Super Snake Speedster is a two-seater car without a roof, the design of which was to be inspired by racing speedsters from the 1950s. However, it will not be so easy to meet him on the street, as its production will be limited to only 98 pieces due to the celebrations of the late 1980s birthday of Carroll Shelby.
Like the standard Super Snake, the Speedster boasts a distinctive bodykit. At first glance, it attracts with, for example, more aggressive bumpers, a higher hood with intake vents, raised fenders, a decent spoiler, etc. In short, the traditional Shelby Super Snake.

However, the Shelby Super Snake Speedster differs from regular Mustangs in the convertible version by a special “hardtop” above the rear seats. In addition, it is equipped with a pair of distinctive arches behind the headrests of the front seats, which adds to the sport’s sportiness and underlines the appearance of the speedster. In the world of Mustangs, this is a relatively unusual conversion.
Under the blown hood is a traditional 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine, which is, however, supercharged by a Whipple compressor. Thanks to complex modifications, the engine now offers the highest output of up to 825 hp and acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h in about 3.5 seconds. In addition, customers can choose between a modified manual and automatic transmission.
In addition, the chassis was also modified. The Super Snake Speedster should have unique springs, semi-axles and a rear stabilizer, but a specially tuned Penske circuit chassis is also available as an option. In the underbody, there are 20 “wheels fitted with special tires for high-performance cars. Braking is then provided by Brembo brakes with 6-piston brakes at the front and 4-piston brakes at the rear.

In short, Shelby Super Snake Speedster lives up to its name and it will definitely be fun to get behind the wheel. However, given the modifications and edition limited to 98 pieces, it is clear that even this fun will not be free. The classic Shelby Super Snake convertible starts at $ 133,785, and the conversion to a pure two-seater model comes at another $ 4,995.
For this exclusive Speedster, customers will have to pull at least $ 138,780 out of their pockets, which is about CZK 3,042,000. Although Shelby is an exclusive affair and offers a warranty of 36,000 miles (approximately 58,000 km), it should be added that the top Shelby GT500 starts overseas from $ 72,900 (approximately CZK 1,598,000).
