The new boss of Škoda Auto: The company wants to leave the problems surrounding the chips behind

The new general manager of the Škoda Auto car company has stated that his main goal is to leave behind problems with deliveries and the lack of semiconductors, and to shorten the waiting time for clients for a new car. Klaus Zellmer, who replaces Thomas Schäfer at the head of the subsidiary of the German Volkswagen, said this when taking office.

“Step by step, we want to leave semiconductor shortages and delivery bottlenecks behind and do everything we can to ensure that our customers receive their Škoda as soon as possible.” said Zellmer, who is quoted by the DPA agency.

Škoda is struggling with a shortage of semiconductors, which has slowed down the delivery of new cars to the market. In addition, as with many other car manufacturers, there were problems due to other missing parts. After the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine, the company also received fewer cable bundles from Ukrainian suppliers.

Zellmer, who was most recently the sales director of the main VW brand in Wolfsburg, faces a number of challenging tasks at the head of the Škoda car company. In the spring, the company stated that this year it expects a significant burden due to the war in Ukraine and the difficult sales situation.
