By the end of the year, the new BMW 3 Series and 4 Series will receive their sporty variant, M3 and M4. Not surprisingly, the arrival of the large grille is generalized to both models.
With its new 4 Series, BMW has decided to mark a radical change in the design of its model. Indeed, the coupe was displayed with a new grille, far from being unanimous among the European public. Anyway, the manufacturer has decided to apply this new element to future M3 and M4, which will be unveiled by the end of the year.
While waiting for the first official photos, the Bimmerpost site was able to get their hands on some images of the new M3. Apart from the grille, it takes the features of the mainstream model, taking care to gain a few centimeters in width at the level of the running gear. Visible here with its Competition pack, it is fitted with specific rims and a thin spoiler on the top of the boot.
The future M3 and M4 will carry the same six cylinders in line as that which powers the X3 and X4 M. In its most powerful version (Competition), it will have a power of 510 horsepower and a torque of 650 Nm. The previous generation DKG gearbox will for its part be replaced by an eight-speed ZF gearbox. BMW has however confirmed the maintenance of the manual gearbox. Subsequently, an M xDrive version will be presented.
Apart from these few visual and mechanical novelties, the M3 and M4 will benefit from a significant weight loss on the scale and all the technological innovations made in recent months.
