Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – At the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIAAS), sales of the Avanza and Veloz filled the top list of Toyota’s best-selling cars. The five models included in the biggest sales include the All New Veloz, All New Avanza, Raize, Innova, and Fortuner.
Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Anton Jimmi Suwandy said, although it was only launched on November 10, 2021, the demand for the All New Avanza is quite high.
“The data we collected until last Friday, November 19, we total Toyota SPK at GIIAS (2021) is 3,818 units and the top five contributions from these SPK products are the All New Veloz as many as 701 units, the second is the All New Avanza 697 units, third is Raize 607 units, fourth Innova 508 units, and fifth is Fortuner 437 units,” said Anton, as quoted by detikcom, Sunday (11/21/2021).
Anton added that the GR variant is quite attractive to Toyota consumers. This variant sells for more than 60% when compared to non-GR models.
“Moreover, we also see that GR products are in demand by consumers, the composition is approximately 70-80% compared to the non-GR types.
For example, sales of the GR variant at Fortuner reached 78%, Yaris 74%, then Rush 69%, Agya 87%, Raize 65%. “So, indeed, these GR types are in great demand by consumers,” he added.
In terms of wholesales sales in general from January to October 2021, Anton said there was an increase of up to 80%, followed by an increase in the Toyota Group’s market share to 33% in the national car market.
The increase in sales was triggered by the improvement in the Covid-19 pandemic situation, as well as government support which provided a relaxation of 100% PPnBM discounts throughout 2021.
‘Feels Not Avanza’
The image of the Avanza so far as a low MPV with minimal features and limited comfort, was broken with the All New Avanza, indeed various features were improved. In terms of entertainment, the All New Avanza now presents a New 9 Inch Dynamic Audio Head Unit (1.5 G) with the ability to be the best entertainment facility that can also be connected with radio, USB, and Bluetooth.
In terms of security, it is equipped with the latest active safety feature technology that relies on sensors and radar, namely Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). The TSS on the All New Avanza consists of four (4) safety features.
The first feature is Pre-Collision Warning and Pre-Collision Braking which rely on a radar system designed to help reduce the risk of collisions with other vehicles in front by providing braking power, even to emergency stops if needed.
Then there is the Pedal Missoperation Control feature which reduces the potential for accidents due to incorrectly stepping on the gas pedal, by setting warning alarms, applying braking, and limiting the distribution of power so that the car slows down.
The third feature is Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention which helps prevent the car from accidentally changing lanes on the road, by giving an alarm sound when the car is moving sideways on a straight road.
The next feature is Front Departure Alert which provides an audible warning when the car in front suddenly moves closer while waiting in line in a traffic jam.
