The Netherlands will allow restaurants and cultural institutions to resume operations – Abroad – News

The government has decided to take such a step because the number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients has slightly increased, the media reported.

Cafes and restaurants, as well as cultural institutions, will be allowed to work until 10 pm, but with restrictions, including masks and a vaccination certificate.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rite will announce the new rules on Tuesday.

Sporting events such as football will continue to be open to spectators.

About a week ago, shops, gyms, hairdressers, brothels and sports clubs were opened in the Netherlands, which have been closed since the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The pressure on the government to lift restrictions has been enormous.

Both business and the cultural sector protested, and mayors also called for the restrictions to be lifted, given that restaurants are open in neighboring Germany and Belgium.

In the Netherlands, meanwhile, the prevalence of Covid-19 continues to grow rapidly. 65,000 new cases were reported on Monday, but it is thought that there are even more cases because positive test results can no longer be recorded so quickly in the required systems.

The seven-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population in the Netherlands has risen to almost 2,000.
