The Netherlands has more than 1.2 million mopeds and light mopeds | NOW

At the beginning of this year, there were more than 1.2 million mopeds and light mopeds in the Netherlands. That is 7 percent more than three years ago, Statistics Netherlands reported on Wednesday. The number of electric models in particular is increasing rapidly.

Of the more than 1.2 million, about two-thirds are mopeds and one-third are mopeds. A small part consists of speed pedelecs and microcars.

Especially the electric variants are on the rise. At the beginning of this year, there were 103,500 mopeds in our country that run on electricity. That is 2.5 times as much as three years ago. Here too, the majority (55 percent) is a moped. Number two is the speed pedelec (25 percent), followed by the electric moped (17 percent).

Most of these electric two-wheelers are owned by people over 50. They had almost twice as many of these vehicles at the beginning of this year as three years earlier.
