The NBA will not test marijuana players next season

The NBA basketball will suspend a random marijuana testing program next season. The competition management has agreed on this with the NBAPA gaming association.

However, controls on performance-enhancing substances and drug abuse will continue. Testing was also interrupted during last season’s finish in the “bubble” in Orlando.

“Due to unusual circumstances surrounding the current pandemic, we have agreed with NBAPA to suspend random marijuana testing for the 2020/21 season and focus on our testing program for performance-enhancing substances and drug abuse,” said league spokesman Mike Bass.

Basketball players are now waiting for the start of training camps and preparatory matches. The first coronavirus testing in teams revealed 48 infected players out of 546 samples taken, which is almost nine percent. The new season starts on December 22nd.
