Our intention was to give an injection of encouragement to the neighborhood of Mamariga and the town of Santurtzi ”, they explain from the organizing committee of the test. But they assure that, “Sorry very much”, the current situation in relation to Covid-19 “It is not what we expected and we cannot guarantee that our race will take place in the most suitable conditions for everyone to enjoy”they emphasize. “We send a huge hug of gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors and runners,” they detail.

Every year a total of 350 people test their endurance with this race, a benchmark in trail running, in which they travel the 12 kilometers to the summit of Mount Biscay, at 451 meters of altitude, which reaches a drop of 656. According to the organizers «Not only Santurtziarras participate, they come from all over Bizkaia, Cantabria, Burgos, Valencia, Asturias, Madrid, etc.» In addition, they explain that due to the success of the test a few years ago they had to put a cap on participation, “despite having a waiting list.”

The test, promoted by the Association of Neighbors of Mamariga, Amezti Taldea and Susegorri Kultur Elkartea since 2009, was chosen in 2017 the second best race of less than 15 kilometers in the State, as well as the first in Euskal Herria.

The organization wanted to say goodbye with a hopeful message and assure that “on the first Sunday in October 2021 we will return with the same enthusiasm as always, in the meantime, everyone to take care of themselves and continue training.”
