-The Division’s collaboration to rescue a kidnapped girl

On Thursday, February 11, Savannah, a 14-year-old teenager, disappeared in Davidson County.

The investigations led the authorities to realize that she had been kidnapped by William Ice, a criminal who was engaged in forming relationships with minors to kidnap them. He had court dates and complaints of child sexual abuse in other states.

The case ended with Savannah’s return home, an officer injured, and Ice’s suicide.

-Arrests related to the break-in to the Capitol

Lewis Easton Cantwell, 35, of NC, as well as Laura Steele, 52, of Thomasville, were arrested because the FBI determined they were related to the invasion of Congress. Laura belongs to the far-right anti-government paramilitary group Oath Keepers.

Sean Smith, 32, of Onslow County, was sentenced on February 17, 2021 to 198 months in jail for possession and intent to distribute methamphetamine, as well as possession and use of a firearm against members of the police.

-Former teacher from Cary, NC, sentenced to prison on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography

On August 20, 2018, members of the FBI and the Cary Police Department issued a federal search warrant at the home of teacher Chip Hollingsworth.

An inspection of his home and an interview led to Chip being sentenced on February 18, 2021 to 144 months in prison after being found guilty of eleven counts of receiving and possessing child pornography.
