Volkswagen is gradually innovating its Tiguan model line. Last year, the initial Tiguan was modernizedwhich on the Chinese market was newly added SUV-coupe Tiguan X. Now comes the time for the facelift of the extended Tiguan Allspace, known elsewhere in the world as Tiguan L or Tiguan LWB. Its pre-sale will start in the coming weeks.
As expected, the modernized Tiguan Allspace takes over the stylistic changes of the default Tiguan. This means primarily a redesigned bow with new headlights stretched to the sides of the body, following the pattern of the eight Golf. It is also referred to by a horizontal diode strip extending the headlights to the center of the front section. For an additional fee, the lights can use the Matrix LED solution to cover surrounding vehicles against dazzling their drivers. By the way, the new bumper extended the length of the car by 22 mm to the resulting 4,723 mm.
The interior underwent an important transformation, which in the spirit of the time bet on digitization. The standard three-zone automatic climate control is now controlled via touchpads, which have replaced the existing buttons and rotary controls, which is the same solution as in the default Tiguan. Also new are multimedia systems using the latest generation of MIB3 infotainment.
A novelty is also the possibility of ordering a head-up display or the IQ.Drive Travel Assist system for manned driving, combining the functions of adaptive cruise control and active lane guidance.
The interior will continue to be seven-seater for an additional fee. However, Volkswagen has changed the concept of trim levels, which will now bear the Life, Elegance and R-Line designations following the example of other models.

The offer of the unit should include three petrol units and two diesel units. Specifically, it will be 1.5 TSI Evo (110 kW) and 2.0 TSI Evo in two power versions with 140 kW and 180 kW. Turbodiesels will represent the 2.0 TDI Evo in two variants with 110 kW and 147 kW.
While the default Tiguan also saw the 235 kW R-sport or the eHybrid plug-in as part of the facelift, the Tiguan Allspace does not anticipate these derivatives. The plug-in hybrid will thus remain reserved for Seata Tarraco in the group’s family SUVs, as the Škoda Kodiaq did not receive it as part of this year’s facelift.
The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace has expanded its range with the second-generation Tiguan. It has proven to be a successful derivative, and since 2017 it has had over 1.7 million pieces produced worldwide. The extended model currently accounts for 55% of global Tiguan production.
