This was stated in “The day begins” by the Minister of Education and Science Nikolai DenkovNikolay Denkov is acting Minister of Education and Science in Ognyan Gerdjikov’s cabinet. C.

He pointed out that in Bulgaria the school year starts at the latest – on September 15, while in other countries the first school day is about 10-15 days earlier.

According to him, the shift of the first day of school is reasonable, especially in the current epidemic situation, because it provides more time for negotiations and consolidation of the material. In addition, the weather is nice in September and there are more opportunities for outdoor activities.

At the moment there is no need to change the students’ vacations, Denkov added. If gaps accumulate, it is possible to extend the school year for the younger ones by a week or two by the end of June at the latest, as happened last school year.

Until the necessary quantities of tests are delivered to the BRC warehouse, the Ministry of Education and Science cannot say a date for the return of the older students, he was categorical. The caretaker Minister of Education was adamant that there could be no discrimination against students aged 11 to 19 due to the fact that they still could not return to the classrooms.

He pointed out that the incidence in our country is such that now the most important thing is to ensure the protection of public health. Within the limits imposed by the health authorities, the Ministry of Education and Science is trying to find a way to return the children to the classrooms.

“The struggle is to provide tests for everyone.” said Denkov.

There is a concentration of vaccinated students in Sofia, so it is likely that students from some high school classes will return to class with a green certificate, said the Minister of Education.
