Health Minister Carolina Darias has been optimistic about the arrival of Hipra’s Spanish COVID-19 vaccine on the market, assuring that it is awaiting its incorporation into the system to begin its application.
During an institutional act in Marchamalo that served as a starting point for administering the second booster dose to people over the age of 80 across Spain, Darias stressed that this campaign will focus on people living in senior centers. , centers for the handicapped and those with risk conditions; as a step prior to the application of the vaccine for the age group over 60 years.
“We do not stop, we will go hand in hand but always advancing, immunizing, vaccinating … vaccinate, vaccinate and vaccinate again”, he abounded.
Now, he has confided that the campaign that opens today “will go as a blow” and will continue to support “the collective success of the country” that has been achieved in the battle against the coronavirus.
A team effort in which “everyone assumed their role and knew they had to act together, since only together would the crisis be overcome”.
New challenges
Darias set new challenges in fighting the virus, such as “new variants or the need for new vaccines,” to which he added the appearance in the fall of “new respiratory viruses” that can complicate the situation.
“For all these very powerful reasons, today we begin the campaign for the second booster dose across the country. A decision by the country, taken by everyone to continue to protect the most vulnerable ”, she indicated.
With this scenario, he indicated that the Ministry will not stop. “We were the first country in the European Union to vaccinate one hundred percent of the elderly. This was not achieved by anyone. They ask me how we did it and I answer: it’s called the National Health System ”, she pointed out.
The minister also indicated that this vaccination campaign should achieve synergies with the flu vaccination campaign. Once the administration is done, he “will go for the rest of the age groups,” as he pointed out.
Castilla-La Mancha, once again a pioneer
The Minister of Health of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, Jesús Fernández Sanz, recalled at his side how on December 27, 2020 vaccination began also in the province of Guadalajara at the national level, “a gesture of hope for millions of people in moments more terrible than the pandemic.

The Minister of Health recalled that on 8 September the Public Health Commission proposed the date of 26 September for the start of the vaccination campaign of the second booster dose against the coronavirus and as expected, the administration of the so-called fourth dose in retirement homes for people over the age of 80, according to the criterion of greatest vulnerability.
Fernández Sanz explained that, currently, more than four million doses have been administered against Covid-19 in the region, with 1,718,837 people having the complete guideline.
In this sense, it should be noted that one hundred percent of the population over 80 is one of the age groups with all vaccines administered.
300,000 doses
Likewise, he stressed that Castilla-La Mancha has received 300,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and that they will continue to receive more in the coming weeks to be given to the most vulnerable people.
“Everything good that happened to us during the pandemic came from the hand of consensus, just as the vaccine was obtained in record time from the hand of scientific consensus”, highlighted Fernández Sanz, who assured that “today we do another I step further to help the people who have suffered the most and who have built this country and it is the best thing that has happened to us, to be able to save so many people ”.
