“To respond to current and future developments, the Reine Astrid military hospital (HMRA) in Neder-over-Heembeek will be transformed by 2030 into a medical hub which will house, among other things, a crisis and disaster management hospital”, explains the minister.

Medical support for the armed forces

“This new medical hub will contribute to the medical support of the armed forces in operations through the deployment of medico-nursing resources trained in operation; develop expertise, research, training and innovation capacities useful for the functioning of Defense and civil society; optimize patient care; and will continue to integrate it into the civilian healthcare offer in its basin, ”develops its general policy brief.

The new infrastructure could accommodate civilian partners and thus facilitate interactions. It could also serve as a logistics center for medical equipment, store certain drugs (role of pharmacy) and accommodate the military laboratory currently in Peutie.
