The meteorologists with a disappointing message: – Danger of rain

Many Norwegians face a rainy week, we must believe the meteorologists.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow warning for a lot of rain in Lofoten and outer Ofoten. On Monday, as much as 35-50 mm of rain is expected within twelve hours, and danger of surface water and aquaplaning.

Gets away

Northern Norway, Western Norway and Central Norway will also be characterized by mild and wet weather.

But it is still a bright spot – for some.

– It is perhaps those in Eastern Norway who escape the weather the most this week. Not that it will be glorious sun and good weather all week, but they do not get as much precipitation, says on-duty meteorologist Julie Solsvik Vågane to Dagbladet.

Nevertheless, there is little doubt that the start of the week will be wet in Eastern Norway as well. Even on Wednesday, it may rain in small amounts.

– At least late Tuesday and Wednesday there will be more precipitation. The rest of the week, wind and weather come from the east, so then Eastern Norway is more on the right side of the mountains, which means that precipitation falls on the west side, she says.

Divided between east and west

Many southerners can also look forward to pleasant weather parts of this week. Many still have to cover themselves with rain showers.

– They are a bit in the difference between west and east – depending on where in Sørlandet you are. If you are on the south side, you probably get away with the rain, but up towards Rogaland there will be more precipitation. Agder will probably be a bit divided between east and west, says Solsvik Vågane.

In Western Norway, 40-60 mm of rain is expected within 24 hours on Tuesday. The wet weather will continue in Nordland as well. In addition, some wind is expected along the coast, so it is the rainwear that applies in the next few days, the institute warns.

– It has especially rained in Nordland, if you look at Troms and Finnmark. I’m sitting in Tromsø where what we had of snow is about to rain away. It is quite mild air coming from the south, says the meteorologist.

– The weather in most places ends up on the plus side on the degree scale before the weekend approaches, then we get more wind from the north. Towards the end of the week – from Thursday – it will be minus degrees, she says.

Plus on the degree scale

– Can it snow this week?

– There are some uncertain forecasts for the weekend, with what it looks like now there will probably be snow showers towards Troms and Finnmark and a bit further south in Nordland. It remains to be seen how cold it will be before a new low pressure occurs. It is probably typical for mid-November that it is a bit off and on, she says.

In the first part of the week, however, there will be plus degrees in large parts of the country.

– In general, there are many places in the south that are around 10 degrees at the beginning of the week. It’s a little cooler in the north, but mostly on the plus side on the degree scale. There is a slight downward trend throughout the week. Right now it is warmest in Møre og Romsdal, with 13 degrees in Sunndalsøra. It is quite mild to be mid-November, she says.
