The Ministry of Health and Community Protection in its Diwan in Dubai hosted the meeting of the National Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health in the Country, with the aim of implementing the initiatives of the National Mental Health Policy, which concern the development and the expansion of comprehensive and integrated mental health services and the consolidation of multisectoral cooperation between the authorities concerned.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hussein Al Rand, Deputy Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, Chairman of the National Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health in the Country, and Dr. Lubna Al Shaali, Director of the Department of Health Policy and Legislation at the Ministry, Vice President of the Committee, with the participation of representatives of the health authorities and partners from the government and private sector.
Dr Hussain Al Rand reviewed before the meeting what had been achieved in terms of mental health promotion, underlining the importance of the committee’s role and tasks, which include a package of initiatives aimed at realizing an innovative model. , sustainable and scalable mental health care, and the definition of policies that lead to change according to a future vision that achieves the establishment of an additional society. Dr. Rand indicated that mental health promotion is a government priority.
For her part, Dr Lubna Al-Shaali explained that the meeting discussed the follow-up and evaluation of the implementation of the strategic plan of the national policy for mental health promotion.
