Martien and Erika Meiland do not expect that they will still be working in their own Chateau Marillaux in two years. In conversation with The entrepreneur they say they are ready for something new.
“We are just going to be completely in season 2020, because then we are fully booked. We are all going to receive those people. We are going to make it a great year, and what happens next, we do not know yet,” says Erica Meiland. Martien Meiland says that the couple wants something else, but they don’t know for sure what it should be.
“We may, as has already been mentioned in the series, find a new object where you can rent houses on your property,” said the lord of the castle. He still wants to organize a dinner for his guests once a week, but says it makes a difference that they can go their own way for the rest of the week.
From the new season, Chateau Marillaux will close for one week every three weeks, which the family calls a necessary measure. “As has happened last year, you cannot sustain for years,” says Erica Meiland. “We also noticed it in each other. You are going to get sniffy and then someone starts to cry. That’s not good. We also have to have a normal life in between.”
The family, that of The entrepreneur received a prize for the entrepreneurs of the year across the border, says that the chateau might still exist in two years. “But no longer with us under that roof”, says Martien Meiland.
