For years, the Xbox is no longer known for its strong exclusives. In fact, the Xbox Series X even came out without a first party exclusive. The Medium: A mix of old school Resident Evil and Silent Hill?
If you’ve played the old Resident Evil games and Silent Hill, The Medium’s game mechanics will look familiar to you. From switching camera angles when you walk into a new room to the puzzle aspect, it has been used there before. Although The Medium offers a lot of mechanics that are already known, the game also brings something unique to the player. Your screen will split in half at times. You then play in two dimensions at the same time. This unique gameplay gimmick is known as ‘Dual Reality’. While there is not much to see on one half of your screen during your gameplay, the same thing happens on the other half of the screen with something interesting added. But what exactly?

In The Medium you follow the story of Marianne. As the name of the game suggests, Marianne is a medium. Someone who can come into contact with the afterlife. In this spooky game, Marianne explores the Niwa Hotel, an abandoned building where she is looking for a mysterious man named Thomas. As a clairvoyant she moves between the real and a spiritual world.
