The Medium fails at stable 60fps even on RTX 3080 at 1080p

Portal DSOGaming tested the PC version of The Medium, a new horror from the Polish studio Bloober Team. The results are depressing: even on a high-performance system, it is not possible to achieve a stable 60fps at 1080p resolution and high graphics settings.

The technical analysis of the game was carried out on a system with an Intel Core i9-9900K processor, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Founder’s Edition video card. The first thing that the journalists noticed was the slowdowns: according to them, small hesitations almost always occur when you move between rooms, and they are very annoying. In this case, the project was installed on an SSD.

In many scenes from The Medium, the frame rate drops below 60fps. But DSOGaming journalists launched the game in 1080p resolution and with high, not maximum graphics settings. It’s also worth noting that performance issues aren’t always associated with traveling across two worlds at the same time. In one of these scenes, the frame rate reached 80 frames / s at the mentioned settings and resolution.

DLSS also cannot provide stable 60fps in The Medium at 1440p resolution and high graphics settings. And if you turn on ray tracing with the same configuration, the frame rate will drop by about 7-8 frames / s.
