The media predicts a shortage of toilet paper in the world

This is happening amid increasing demand for toilet paper.

South American exporters of toilet paper raw materials faced a shortage of cargo ships due to the huge demand for shipping by sea. The situation can get worse.

The largest producer of wood pulp – raw materials for products, including toilet paper, warns that amid the pandemic, there may be interruptions in the supply of this product. The reason is the growth in demand for sea transportation and the lack of cargo ships, writes Bloomberg.

Exporters of goods transported by containers have already faced this problem. Now, however, difficulties may arise with such types of packaging as boxes, barrels, bags.

The head of the Brazilian company Suzano SA, which provides about a third of the world’s supply of raw materials for toilet paper, Walter Schalka previously announced a problem with the export of wood pulp, which is used in the production of hygiene products.

This happens at a time of increasing demand for household toilet paper, when consumers began to buy it in a panic. Significant disruptions to the pulp trade could ultimately affect the supply of toilet paper if producers do not have sufficient stocks, Schalke said.

He also added that due to heightened competition at the Suzano terminals, ships began to appear less often, and the situation may worsen.

“All South American players who export in large quantities have faced this risk … The problem with cargo transportation will lead to interruptions in the supply of raw materials and a decrease in the production of toilet paper,” Schalka said.

It became known who bought toilet paper during the pandemic

Previously scientists explained the demand for toilet paper… Experts told why people around the world during the coronavirus epidemic began to buy a huge amount of toilet paper.
