After the wave of irregularities in illegal transport and the clashes that have been generated between some Ibagué taxi drivers and Uber drivers, the mayor of the city of Ibagué in Colombia, Andrés Fabián Hurtado, has announced through a local radio station , that a ‘wave’ of inspections will come against the illegal transport company Uber.

The local president promised that there will be a wave of activities to prevent illegal transport with the support of the Metropolitan Police and the Ministry of Mobility.

«We know that, in the Exito sector, in Parque La 93, via the Perales airport, there have been clashes between the two services, which we will not continue to allow, my call is for calm. In addition, I can assure citizens that we are hand in hand with the Metropolitan Police working on a strategy to positively impact the sectors affected by this problem and mobility in general, ”Hurtado explained.

He added that they already have the points identified thanks to information provided by the same taxi drivers’ union that is being affected.

“A strong wave of operations is coming in the city of Ibagué to combat illegal transport by any means.”

He mentioned the local mayor, who has given a precise order to the commander of the Metropolitan Police, Colonel Gabriel Bonilla, to obtain quick and positive results in these operations.

“We hope to start these plans this week and others that we cannot reveal for strategic reasons to give positive results in terms of illegal transport.”
