The immediate application of the new measures included in the response to Covid-19 in Senegal will undoubtedly affect demonstrations of a religious nature. At least that is what the Minister of the Interior, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye said during his statement on August 07 in the premises of the Ministry of Health and Social Action.
Regarding the Grand Magal of Touba and the celebration of Gamou, the minister confided that in the process which was initiated by the administrative authorities for a solution suitable to all, the marabouts have always been associated, a way of reaffirming continuing consultations so that the response to the pandemic can be carried out in close collaboration.
In this sense, moreover, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye praised the posture of the general caliphs of the Mourides and Tidianes tending to participate in collective awareness on the compulsory wearing of a mask.
