The city of Kingston, Ontario has made masks mandatory in all indoor public places following the discovery of a source of contamination in a beauty and treatment salon.
Sixteen people, including six employees, who attended Binh’s Nail & Spa in Kingston were diagnosed with COVID-19 last Thursday. The city’s health authorities therefore recommended that the 500 individuals who had visited the place since it reopened two weeks ago, go for screening and observe a 14-day quarantine.
However, it is estimated that the situation was dealt with fairly quickly, but that additional cases could be added following the tests.
As a precaution, the Dr Kieran Moore, a medical officer for health in Greater Kingston, has made it mandatory to wear the mask, especially in grocery stores, restaurants, treatment rooms and public transportation. A fine of $ 5,000 could accompany a company’s failure to comply with this measure.
At Binh’s Nail & Spa, which reopened on June 12, employees wore masks, but not most customers. The salon was not cleaning its instruments properly, it was added in the public health report.
