The man, Hamza, 24, showed up on Friday morning armed with a knife in the emergency room of the Brussels hospital. He allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“God is the greatest”), then declared that he would die but that he would return to “kill everyone”, according to witnesses.
The individual then walked away without causing any casualties. However, the police took the threat very seriously and immediately organized a manhunt. The Brussels prosecutor’s office has been informed, as have all other police areas in the capital and all hospitals in the Brussels region. The police in his municipality of residence, Martelange, in the province of Luxembourg, were also informed.
On Friday evening, the man was finally arrested in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. According to the police, this arrest went smoothly.
