The man got stuck on his hip in a potato machine

A seriously injured man was transported to the hospital by helicopter, firefighter Lucie Balážová said.

Firefighters set out for the private agricultural area before 16:00. They were informed that someone was calling for help and was apparently dragged into a potato plow.

“Upon arrival at the site and a search, the firefighters discovered that the man was trapped all the way to the hip between the cylinders of the machine. They immediately began cooperating with the rescue service. Before rescuing the injured man, the doctor had to ensure his vital functions before the firefighters could start rescuing, “said a spokeswoman for the fire department.

During a very physically demanding intervention, the intervening firefighters used hydraulic expanders, crowbars, lifting bags, securing wedges and a cutting saw to move the jammed cylinders as far apart as possible and free the men from the machine as quickly as possible.

“Subsequently, they rescued him with the help of a backbone plate and handed him over to the care of paramedics,” added Lucie Balážová. They used a technical car on the spot, the equipment of which is used for demanding technical interventions or rescue work.
