The malaria drug hydroxychloroquine still works against corona

The anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) would still have a beneficial effect on the treatment of corona patients. Earlier, US President Donald Trump argued for the drug, but that was then laughed off. A new investigation is right. The NOS reports that.

Hydroxychloroquine is known as a drug for malaria and rheumatism, but at the start of the corona crisis it was also mentioned as a possible drug against Covid-19. US President Donald Trump has also repeatedly argued for more research into the positive effects of hydroxychloroquine in the fight against corona, but was regularly laughed at for this.

However, a new Dutch study shows that hydroxychloroquine would indeed help against the corona virus. The drug was tested on 1,100 corona patients in 14 Dutch hospitals, and it shows that patients who received the drug were 53% less likely to end up in intensive care.

These results have now also been confirmed by American researchers and the scientific article by the Dutch researchers is peer reviewed, which means that it has been valued by peers.
