The Lyon bicycle sector is settling on a collective production site until 2027

It will be a bit of a “totem” place for the bicycle industry in Lyon, what the H7 is to French Tech at Confluence. The Metropolis of Lyon has just handed over the keys, until 2027, to premises of more than 8,000 m2 to the Manufacture association for active mobility, in Villeurbanne la Soie. A project that is part of the great ambitions of relocating the cycling economy in France announced by Grand Lyon.

The former site of Bobst, companies manufacturing machines for packaging companies, will gradually be inhabited over 2,700 m2 by nine companies in the sector: Addbike, Vepli, Benur, etc.

15,000 bicycles per year manufactured in Lyon

The Manufacture is an association emanating from the Auralpin MAD bicycle cluster, a member of the Clara competitiveness cluster. The vast majority of local bike companies are represented there.

Strong point, moreover, of this new site: the presence of the Factory by bike of 1,000 m2an assembly line of bicycles and wheels for cycle brands and which caresses the long-term ambition of “releasing” 15,000 bicycles per year with 30 jobs at stake.

For Greater Lyon, these five years will be used to imagine the continuation of the development of a district of 33,000 m2 strategy in the second phase of La Soie’s development.
