The longest Tatra in the world travels along the Ostrava Liberty Steel smelter

The Liberty Steel smelters in Ostrava have a new task. Within Luxembourg, the production of envy rods moved from Luxembourg to the north-eastern corner of the Czech Republic. Handling them requires special techniques. That is why the smelter commissioned the construction of a special vehicle. The result is the longest car with the Tatra logo ever made.

In recent years, the carmaker Tatra has focused on special orders, as it significantly modifies its vehicles for the needs of its clients. The result is often really special conversions, used for unique tasks. The latest such work is a Tatra vehicle built for the Liberty Steel Ostrava metallurgical company.

The vehicle using the Tatra chassis has become the longest car in the history of this carmaker. The unique car measures an incredible 25.3 meters in length, which is related to the specific needs of its customer. Liberty Steel Ostrava ordered it for the transport of extremely long loads, especially threaded rods, due to the transfer of the final processing of threaded rods and their accessories from Luxembourg to Ostrava.

“The Tatras are traditionally considered to be vehicles for difficult terrain, but in this case another unique feature was used: The ability to build a chassis for extremely long loads. Liberty Steel Ostrava, as one of the most important metallurgical companies in the Czech Republic, is a customer reference for us and the new car is an example that Tatra trucks are really suitable for various roles, ”says Kamil Košťál, Marketing Director of Tatra.
